Promising to be the debut novel of the season The Silent Patient is a shocking psychological thriller of a woman’s act of violence against her husband—and of the therapist obsessed with uncovering her motive…

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word.

Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety. The price of her art skyrockets, and she, the silent patient, is hidden away from the tabloids and spotlight at the Grove, a secure forensic unit in North London.

Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations—a search for the truth that threatens to consume him....

Alicia Berenson shot her husband, Gabriel Berenson, five times in the face killing him instantly. There is no question that she is not guilty. All the evidence points to Alicia, but why would she kill her own husband? This is a question left unanswered as Alicia remains silent and never speaks again. Her silence stumps everyone and what is thought as a domestic tragedy soon becomes a mystery. The tabloids have cast her as a cold blooded killer, a monster. After Alicia’s trial, she is sequestered away at The Grove, a secure forensic unit in London and still six years later she has not uttered one word.

Theo Faber, a psychotherapist is fascinated by Alicia’s story and believes she suffers from a severe trauma which is preventing her from speaking. Theo wants to help her. He wants to help heal Alicia to where she can finally tell her story. When a position at The Grove becomes available, Theo applies and is accepted as a new psychotherapist at the forensic unit. Will Theo be the only one who can get through to Alicia or will Alicia lead him down a dark and dangerous path, one he will not be able to get out of?

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides is being billed as the most anticipated debut to be released in 2019. Everywhere I look The Silent Patient is leaving its mark all over Twitter and in book groups. This book is generating a lot of buzz. Everyone and I do mean everyone is whispering about this book! I have never seen a book talked about quite as much as this one. Believe me when I say this, everything you hear about this book is true! The Silent Patient is going to be THE number one book release of the year hands down!

I love a really good psychological thriller that I can really sink my teeth into and immerse myself in the pages, but I often times find most thrillers never really hit their mark and while I have enjoyed reading many of them, I always felt like something was missing. So, I had very high hopes that The Silent Patient would totally blow me away. So I sat back with the book in my hand and honestly, I found myself glued to the pages. The slow build up just added to the allure of the story. This book gets deep into the minds and psyche of our main characters, Alicia and Theo. While this book is billed as a thriller, it is so much more than that. It is in in depth character study that goes deep into the root of what makes both Alicia and Theo Tick. What has shaped their lives and what has lead them to the path they are at right now. Layer by layer the story is slowly revealed and quite frankly when the mystery starts getting pieced together I was like Holy F**** Sh** Alex Michaelides you freakin rock!

Alex Michaelides has just dominated and taken over the psychological thriller genre with his debut book, The SIlent Patient. Michaelides will win you over with his descriptive text that flows so perfectly and so seamlessly. This story is absolutely brilliant and when those twists start coming you will be shocked right to the core. I must say, I totally never expected the ending and I have never ever seen a book so well crafted and jaw dropping once you get to the final reveal. That finale is THE best I have ever read! Michaelides is a huge contender in the genre and one to watch out for because he is going to rule the market and the thriller genre.

The Silent Patient is a masterfully crafted novel perfect for fans of psychological thrillers. Prepare to be riveted and glued to your seat as you immerse yourself in this mind-blowing debut that will take you down a dark and twisty path and then totally blow your mind with the most epic ending you will ever read in your life. I totally recommend this book!
