Number-crunching Velma Johnson’s perfectly planned life is right on course.

That’s a lie. Sure, she’s got the lucrative job. She’s got the posh apartment. But her sister nabbed Velma’s Mr. Right. There has to be a man out there for Velma. Hopefully, one who’s hunky, wears pressed suits, and has a diversified financial portfolio. He’ll be exactly like, well… her sister’s new fiancé.

Badass biker Brek Montgomery blazes a trail across the country, managing Dimefront, one of the biggest rock bands of his generation. With the band on hiatus, Brek rolls into Denver to pay a quick visit to his family and friends. But when Brek’s sister suddenly gets put on bed rest, she convinces Brek to take over her wedding planning business for the duration of her pregnancy.

Staying in Denver and dealing with bridezillas was not what Brek had in mind when he passed through town, but there is one particular maid-of-honor who might make his stay worthwhile.

Velma finds herself strangely attracted to the man planning her sister’s wedding. Problem is, he ticks none of the boxes on her well-crafted list. Brek is rough around the edges, he cusses, and doesn’t even have a 401(k). But trying something crazy might get her out of the rut of her dating life—so long as she lays down boundaries up front and sticks to her plan…

Velma johnson is a successful woman with a five year plan. Only her five year plan includes her co-worker Dean who is presently dating her sister. Dean is the one man she has crushed on for years, but her heart is about to be shattered when her sister announces some pretty big news. Luckily, Dean’s Friend Brek keeps Velma from feeling down in the dumps. Too bad, he is a rocker with tattoos….not the type of man she would ever go for. But, he makes her feel weak in the knees and her heart beat just a little bit faster. Can a straight laced spreadsheets kinda girl ever fall in love with a motorcycle riding bad boy?

Velma is just a sweet girl all around. She doesn’t curse, she rates men she dates on a spreadsheet, she dresses modest, and she has her life planned out right down to the last detail. She has no room for a rock band manager slash biker in her orderly life, but Dean brings the chaos into her world, something that was much needed to make Velma see that she isn’t so dull after all.

Brek is only looking for right now. He is a manager of a rock band and does not plan on staying in Denver full time, but when his wedding planner sister lands herself in the hospital with a high risk pregnancy, Brek takes over her business to help his sister out. With a matchmaking mamma and bridezillas on the warpath, Brek is going to need all the help he can get. So, when he lands himself Velma’s second bedroom for the duration of his stay, Brek is slowly worming his way into Velma’s bed instead. Who says friends with benefits couldn’t be beneficial to the both of them? But, when real feelings get involved Brek soon begins to change his toon from the “right now” kinda guy to the “forever” kinda man.

I really enjoyed this story right from the beginning. Going Down on One Knee has everything that I look for in an opposites attract romance. I love a to die for hero, a bad boy, add some tattoos and a motorcycle and I think maybe even I want to date him! I really love the connection between Brek and Velma it is almost instantaneous although Velma tries to deny how much she is attracted to him. It was refreshing to see how much Velma is able to open up to him and finally let loose, something she has not been able to do for a very long time. There romance is believable and heartfelt and I was really rooting them on as a couple.

Going Down on One Knee is a cute romantic comedy that pulled me right in and had me smiling and laughing pretty much until the end. Although this is the first book I have read by Christina Hovland, it certainly will not be my last. I highly recommend if you enjoy an opposites attract romcom filled with amazing and loveable characters that will make your heart melt.
