Willa Doon has always been shy. Her quiet demeanor was something she’s always embraced. That is, until Jackson Page moves to town. The one man she desperately wants to take notice struggles to remember her name.

Year after year, Willa stands by, watching as the bartender slash playboy drowns his demons in beer and sex. Then one night, he shows up at her door, suddenly aware that the girl he’s seen around Lark Cove is now a beautiful woman.

Except what he doesn’t remember is that this visit isn’t his first. They spent a night together once before. A night he’s forgotten, thanks to a bottle of tequila.

A night that crushed a timid girl’s heart, and set a broken man on the path to heal them both.

Devney Perry is quickly becoming an autobuy author for me. Even though Tattered, the first book in the Lark Cove series, is the first I have ever read from Perry, her writing style is truly amazing and she writes such beautiful and heartwarming characters and wonderful love stories that give you all the feels.

I first met Willa and Jackson in Tattered and I was highly anticipating their story. I knew deep down Timid would be another five star read and Perry shows once again that she does not disappoint.

Willa Doon has been secretly in love with Jackson Page for the past nine years ever since she met him at a convenience store when she was only seventeen years old. Too bad Jackson doesn’t even know she is alive. Willa has been a staple at the bar Jackson works at, but he can’t even remember her name correctly and keeps calling her Willow. Just when Willa is about to give up on all hope of them ever being together, Jackson starts noticing her for the very first time. But, is Jackson already too late in realizing that the perfect woman for him has been right under his nose this entire time?

Willa Doon is such a sweet woman who believes in love, marriage and babies. She has never gotten over her crush on Jackson and no man has ever compared or seemed worthy enough for her besides Jackson. Willa, like the name of this story, is timid. She is too shy to go after what she wants and often pines away for Jackson in secret or among her friends. One area where Willa really shines is at youth camp. She loves all of the children that come every summer and she really opens up to the kids in her care. Although Willa is sweet and innocent, she does have a spunky side and when Jackson doesn’t remember a night they shared together, Willa is determined to make him work to get back into her good graces.

Jackson Page’s story is really heartbreaking. He was abandoned by his mother as a young boy and moved around from foster home to foster home never ever finding a family of his own until he meets Hazel and Thea, our heroine from Tattered. Hazel and Thea are the only people he has in his life that are family to him. Jackson is a flawed hero. He doesn’t think he deserves love or deserves a good woman as he doesn’t feel he has anything to offer in return. He is a playboy moving from woman to woman for gratification. But, when he finally sees Willa, Jackson knows she is different and as much as he does not want to hurt her, he can’t seem to stop from wanting to be with her.

Willa and Jackson’s romance is so sweet and tender and made me say “awww” quite often, but then on the other hand I also wanted to smack Jackson for being so obtuse. Most of the story is about Jackson and Willa getting to know each other and exploring their new found romance. There is a bit of suspense and some tense moments thrown in that really add to the story as well as bringing about some closure. The story moved along and I never felt like there were any slow moments. This truly is a sweet story through and through

I devoured Timid in a matter of hours and really wished for it to never end. I loved Willa and Jackson’s story and really routed for their happily ever after. So far, I am in love with this series and I can not wait to read the next book, Tragic.
