Inside the Book
Title: Miss Behave (The Anderson Family Series Book 1)
Author: Traci Highland
Publisher: Cheshire Lane Press
Genre: Romantic Comedy
She’s great at giving advice, too bad she never takes it…
Piper Anderson wants to be a serious journalist at a serious paper covering serious news. Instead, she’s stuck at the Pendleton Falls Herald, where her massive investigative skills are wasted penning the paper’s advice column, Miss Behave.
Her shot at a meaty story comes when she’s assigned to write up a profile of a local business, Brookes Jewelers. She is determined to write the piece so she can use the article to impress a real paper.
Unfortunately Hunter Brookes, co-owner of Brookes Jewelers and the Pendleton Falls Herald, is rather persistent, in his own hot little way, that the piece should be nothing more than a glorified sales pitch.
But when diamonds disappear, Piper may get the chance to do a real investigation, leading her to confront family secrets and worst of all, turn to her mother for help.
Piper soon realizes that there is more to Mr. Brookes than a tight ass and a ridiculous fascination with name tags. Together they deal with roasted pigs, crazy cat ladies, and gun-toting fashionistas.
In all the chaos, they just might find the one thing that neither one was looking for: true love.

Piper Anderson is a small town advice columnist for the Pendleton Falls Herald. Sure, it’s not the kind of news reporting that she really wants to do, nor is it her dream job of working on the staff of a big paper, covering stories that actually matter to people. But, working for the Herald does have its perks, namely Hunter Brookes, co-owner of the Herald and Brookes Jewelers. When a chance encounter, and a mighty embarrassing one at that, brings Piper closer to Hunter and a new found romance, maybe Piper will have a reason to stay in her small town afterall. Or will a jewelry heist that brings her closer to family secrets have the potential to make her run away once and for all?
I simply adored Piper and her quirky family. I seriously just want to be adopted into their merry crew. Piper is the snarky sister who is quick with the comebacks and her advice column is filled with laughter and some sage advice given in a comedic way. Piper does not really have a close relationship with her mother, sure they get along, but they really do not understand one another. Piper’s mother Ann, wonders why Piper is always encouraging her readers to drink more, which leads to some funny moments between mother and daughter. Top the dynamic off with Ann’s fraternal sister, Elise, a fan of wrestling and men with nice buns, and you have a family full of laughs that will have tears coming from your eyes.
The story moves along slowly which gave me the opportunity to really get to know each of the characters and I felt like I connected with each one. The romance between Piper and Hunter was a blend of sweet and funny with a lot of humiliating moments for Piper which led me into fits of laughter and saying “OMG I am so glad that has never happened to me while out on a date!” While I enjoyed the romantic comedy part of the story, I thought there would have been more to the heist or that it would have taken up more of the story, but in all honesty it worked regardless and was handled in a good way and ended on a positive note. I am so glad Traci Highland kept up with the lightness of the story, even though there were real life/family issues that were serious topics.
Miss Behave by Traci Highland is a captivating, laugh out loud romantic comedy that has stolen my heart. I seriously did not want this story to end. I am so glad this book 1 in the Anderson family series because I definitely need more from this silly and loving family. If you enjoy romantic comedies with a whole lot of snark, you definitely do not want to miss out on this one!
