Madam Love, Actually

Lance Parker is an arrogant know-it-all. As author of the bestselling book Your Soulmate Doesn’t Exist, he says love is for losers. Madam Love is a fortune teller and matchmaker who has brought hundreds of couples together.

When the two clash during a radio interview, she admits even someone as irritating and impossible as Lance has a soulmate. He says she’s delirious and a fraud. Then the gauntlet is laid down: Madam Love has two weeks to prove Lance wrong and find him a soulmate.

When Lance meets wonderful Emma by chance, he doesn’t know what to think anymore. But Emma has a secret. She’s Madam Love, actually. And it’s going to take a whole lot more than a crystal ball to get her out of this mess.

My Review:

Madam Love, I want a man as hot and strong as Jason Momoa *sighs*, that looks sexy in a uniform, is a bad boy, but has a tender sweet side and….oh wait! This story isn’t about me, Darnit!

Madam Love, also known as Emma Wright, is a fortune teller who helps singles find their soulmate. She is great at her job and has a true gift to bring singles together and showing them that happily ever afters really does exist. Lance Parker is a bestselling author and his book, Your Soulmate Doesn’t Exist, is a realist. He does not believe in all this nonsense about soulmates. Lance believes that most women are living in a dream world when it comes to love. Romance books heroes are not real (Wait what? Romance book heroes are not real? *passes out*). When a live radio show brings Madam Love and Lance together sparks and insults start to fly. Lance believes fortune tellers are crocks and Madam Love sets out to prove to Lance that even someone as bitter and jaded as him has a soulmate and with her help she will make sure Lance finds her. Can two people who hate each other so much come to realize that they were truly meant for each other?

I am definitely a big believer in fate. Everything in your life happens for a reason. I can see how fate plays a role in bringing Emma and Lance together even though they both have different beliefs in love. Emma is determined to lead Lance to his soulmate, but fate keeps rearing its head, placing Emma in Lance’s path time and time again. Lance does not even know Emma is Madam Love as she wears a disguise while working. Lance finds himself drawn to Emma and they have an explosive chemistry and as much as Emma tries to avoid him, fate keeps bringing them together. Just her luck!

I really love the chemistry between Emma and Lance. They clash heads quite frequently and it is absolutely hysterical every time they argue. In a way, it’s like they are trying to one up each other with the insults which made me laugh out loud practically throughout the entire story. Emma is such an interesting character because as Madam Love, she is this quirky and snarky fortune teller that gives as good as she gets. On the other hand when she is just Emma, she is sweet and at times shy. Lance really is a stand up guy and like Emma there are two sides to him as well. He can act like a jerk in front of Madam Love and then on the other side act really sweet with Emma.

What comes as even more of a nice surprise for me is that the author is a man (I know right!). I don’t know of many RomCom authors who are men and can write such a hilarious romance like Madam Love, Actually. You Sir sure do know what women like. It is such a pleasure to see a male author take on the romance genre that is dominated primarily by female authors. Rich Amooi you rock!

Madam Love, Actually is a romantic comedy that I just absolutely adored. It is a delightful and charming story full of laughter and wit with characters you just can’t help but fall in love with. Even though this is my first read from Rich Amooi, it certainly will not be my last.

So Madam Love…..about Jason Momoa….oh who I am kidding I would probably wind up meeting Al Bundy! I guess I’ll be sticking with romance book hotties! Grrr…
